It's a little known fact that once, there was a crossing between Ireland and Scotland known as "the Borders Strait", this is actually how Scots people came to live in what should technically be known as Northern England. They crossed this Strait and took up residence, then became known as Scottish. Then they said Scotland was theirs and the English had no right to take it. What a nerve! Considering Scots were obviously all immigrants anyway.

It's a coincidence that your mother must be aware of this theory as apart from me, I think she might be the only person who is!

On a serious note though, I am concerned about your mother's sense of direction - she doesn't drive a tank does she? Might be wise to take the keys away from her.
