I'm using an iBook as my laptop for school, and I have a G4 Cube as my desktop.
Both are running OS X Jaguar.
The G5 hasn't actually reached the consumer yet, I don't think...it was in the "Pre-order yours today!" phase a couple weeks ago when I got this catalogue.
I suspect it's overkill for the normal home user, one of my college friends who is a Mac geek says it's really most suited for the high end graphic peeps who do a lot of vid work, adverts,effects , movies, that sort of thing. But Apple will be more than happy to sell it to the home users under the guise of "sexy and fast!" He told me to spend my money on upgrading what I have, if I want something more.
Are you running OS X?
It's almost too easy, ennit? If you aren't using OS X Jaguar,(there was a pre-Jag version), do it! It's beauty. I haven't had any probs with it, only probs I ever have are with MS websites that don't be Mac friendly. OS X "sees" them better than previous OS versions. It's worth the upgrade, really.
Have you found the new Write programs yet? The NOT MS ones. They are lovely to work with, use Aqua interface, can read MS Word documents.
You do a lot of writing and I think they would be great value to you. MarinerWrite is my favorite.
