Little puppy is picked up and carried into the crow home by crow daughter. She’s telling little puppy that she misses him when he’s gone for nights at a time and that he shouldn’t do that, playfully scolding the little puppy for it’s indiscretionz.

Back in those days they say, that animals walked like humans too. The only difference was that their feet, head, and hands were of the animal that they would eventually become….

Soon there’s food put on the table by crow mom, and puppy boy is hopeful that she doesn’t notice any difference. So the crows sit to their food and eat and while she’s eating, the crow girl tears strips of deer fat from her food and gives em to the pup, whom eagerly gulps it up.

Crow man scolds his daughter for feeding the pup deer meat fat and tells her to cook some cornmeal mush for him .. crow girl, does but the pup won’t eat the mush, try as she might, the pup won’t eat mush for crow daughter.

Crow man gets irritated with the pup and puts a firepoker into the fire until its tip is glowing red with coals. He intends to burn the pups eyes out with the fire poker but crow daughter pleads with her father , “ no father, he’s my dog … I love him … don’t hurt him….” The crow father backs off and crow mom is also relieved because they don’t want to alienate their daughter and make her go away so soon, she was still too young but also on the verge of adulthood.

So crow dau pleads with her dad some more about getting some more deer meat because that seems to be the only thing that puppy will eat now. Maybe he’s growing up to be bigger dog now she says as she pleads with her dad.
And crow mom backs up her daughters pleas because of her comcern that the daughter may decide to leave them sooner than later if she feels not given attention to …

Relunctantly crow man agrees and starts getting ready to go get a deer for them. He tells the mom and dau to stay here while he goes and gets a deer.
But crow daughter says, dad we want to go with you too J, and starts walking with the puppy. And crow mom decides to tag along too …-------->
