No, it doesn't sound silly to go on about a bird. I understand how you feel. We once had a budgie with a blue chest. His name was Kalle. He could also dance (looks too cool the way those birds can move, eh? :o), loved to sit on my shoulders and pull my earrings (more power and strenght in such a little body than you'd normally imagine...), immitate laughter and the washing machine etc.. People said he'd probably live no longer than about 5 years, but he got 9, so for such a small bird he had a long life.

You gave Woodstock a good and happy life. Otherwise he wouldn't have lived that long. And frustrated birds pluck themselves. So Woodstock is happy to have lived with you and yours. I still have some of Kalle's feathers. My father still has the milk teeth of the dog my parents used to have long ago. Animals are like family members. No wonder we get sad when they leave. Woodstock is fine now, healthy and free of any pains.
