Thanks Kathy. I guess I'm getting fed up with death. In addition to Lee and two of my dogs and a colleague this year, one of our graduate students is going. Had both of her breasts removed and now it's on her liver. She was diagnosed about the time I got here because her baby just turned two.

Back to Lee. I was still in shock, so Dave Pego beat me to this:

Lee is such a loss to young Indian writers. The guy was a full time talent scout.

Paula Gunn Allen is his sister, by the way. Must be something in the drinking water at Laguna that grows talent. They were estranged for some reason I never understood, but I hope they worked it out. It was one of those deals where I got along with both of them but didn't quite feel intimate enough to get into that subject.

Lee's Wordcraft Circle was the subject of one of my last rants on Indianz. Somebody said the organization was mine (not true) and that it allows wannabes (true). Lee believed that cream rises.

Steve
