We attended our son's graduation from boot camp on Friday, and it was amazing. There were 792 in the graduating class, 80 in his section - his section got all their flags and graduated top in the class!

He wasn't the one holding the sword, but as section leader he stood in front next to him - directly in front of us the whole time. He looked SO good in his uniform - in eight short weeks my boy has become a man.

My son's girlfriend attended with us. I wasn't aware they were so serious about each other. I joked with her that we might have to fight over who gets to hug him first after the ceremony, but she had the right answer - "Oh YOU get to hug him first - you're his mother." Turns out we both lost. My husband made a beeline to him and I wasn't sure if he'd EVER let go. I don't think I've ever seen my husband so proud. I think deep down he didn't think our son would make it through special ops boot camp. Not only did he make it through, he emerged a proven leader.

His girlfriend had a hotel room near the base. He was on liberty, but had to be back at the base in the evening. They spent Saturday together at the hotel - too risky to drive all the way down here. Somehow I don't think they minded being snowed in together, lol.

They came over early Sunday morning and spent the day with us, and I got to know more about his girlfriend. They appear to really love each other. He absolutely has my blessing with this one!

We can no longer see him before he leaves for Florida on Wednesday, but Staci has the day off work today. She asked if she could spend more time with me today, offering to help around the house or whatever I wanted from her. She's a peach, that's for sure!
