I won't disagree that much death has been dealt under the banner of Christianity. I don't think it's the nature of the religion that creates the correlation so much as it is the nature of the cultures that embrace it that are (sometimes) more violent. It's a religion of primarily urbanized cultures and it's those cultures who have the technology to create the most violent engines of war.

Those cultures are also male dominated status hierarchical cultures...it's logical they would choose/create a religion that reflects that.

I also believe most any religion can be subverted to rationalize war.

I'll also note that I see many efforts at creating peace, social services, and egality are also done in the name of Christianity.
