Yup, I'd never deny that -- he was an expert at gettin' people riled up about things, even now :o))

If you look back at that quote, he tackles the US govt. tryin' to deport him first, saying they have no more rights over this land than he has, that this whole country is Indian Land and at least the disciples paid a goodly price for their little piece of it -- implying that the US gov't. NEVER HAS, no??

Then he gets down on Ndns, yes, and that part disturbed you -- sheesh, it upset me too, and I even edited some of the worst of it when I printed it here, coward that I am :o(( -- but wasn't he saying "why are you folks acting like victims, when you are the rightful 'owners' and caretakers of this land??" Seems to me he wasn't playing the patronizing, co-dependency role that an exploiter would play -- just sayin' straight out, "What's Up with This Shit?!"

A Zen hit like that is considered a compliment, an honor really -- it says you're worthy of a whole lot more than you've been getting or giving -- is that such a bad assessment of the situation ??

Sorry if you thought I was dodging this one when I said I didn't think he'd changed his mind -- he'd already been living in the US for five years when he spoke about this [1985], and I haven't found that he ever referred to it again after he'd left .... but I surely haven't read everything he said yet .... maybe you could send up some smoke and ask him :o) [ducking now ....]
