In reply to: Wolfe 's message, "Fresh Coffee!" on Fri, 01/31/03 2:42pm

Thanks a BUNCH, Wolfe! Our supply train seems to have run out of steam somewhere in the swamps of Florida or sumpin' (HEY ^^^^T, WHAT'S UP ???!!!). Soon as the quartermaster gets back with the supply-funds we'll reimburse you best we can -- sure hope that sale had some goooood discounts :o).

Those teas are gonna come in verry handy, as I think Stars7's "doldrums" or "cabin fever" or somethin' is beginning to set in around my house pretty bad :o(( -- more snow on the way tonite ! At least it might be white again for a day or so instead of this muddy, dingy grey everywhere ....

Oh, by the way, when the Kona runs out we might want to try this new Indigenous Organic Coffee from the Taino in P.R. -- haven't tried it, but sounds purty good, no?? [for me just the description of those lush GREEN hills was a boost all by itself, lol !!]

thanks, Wolfe :o))

Subject: Fwd: Organic Coffee now available by Taino Indian Farmers in Puerto Rico

Takahi Family and Friends We are happy to announce that we have just purchased coffee roasting and grinding machinery to provide the freshest roasted coffee to our Family and Friends. Since we are able to roast our own coffee we want to introduce a new marketing plan and offer you the very best and the freshest roasted coffee on the market. In order to do this we need a commitment from you to purchase at least one pound of coffee per week and to pay for a three month supply at a time. This amounts to $47.00 a month and $141.00 for your first three month supply. We can send your three-month order all at once, or monthly. Of course, by allowing us to send, your order quarterly or monthly helps keep the costs down. By participating in our prepaid plan you not only guarantee that we set aside your order from our production but you also help by providing
us with the cash flow necessary to keep our production going.

Please consider joining our prepaid plan and help us maintain our organic production through your commitment to purchase your yearly coffee consumption from us directly.
Organic Gourmet coffee can cost upwards of $16.00 a pound. By participating in our prepaid plan you save $6.00 a pound. Moreover, you know that you will be receiving the freshest roasted coffee available on the market since your order will be roasted on the day it is shipped to you. To order, just e-mail us your order and mail your first payment of $141.00, tell us the shipping option you desire, all 12 pounds shipped at once or in monthly packages of 4lbs. As soon as we receive payment we will ship your order. Don’t forget to tell us if you want us to grind your fresh roasted coffee beans or to send them whole. Feel free to pass this on to family, friends, co-workers and neighbors you think would be interested. Peace and Love,
Naniki (Loti) and Mo

PS. For your information below is part of our brochure on our coffee. In the lush verdant, green countryside of the central mountain ranges of the island of Puerto Rico, resides the Kaney Farm bordered by the Toro Negro Forest. It sits 3500 feet above sea level and it is watched over by
the Sacred Cemi Mountain. Its rich water resources include many pristine streams, the Toro Negro, Baldio and Dona Juana Rivers. The well-known Dona Juana Waterfalls are nestled within its borders. This is the home of "CAFE OROCO", the first organic coffee grown on the island originally known as Borike. In 1993, the land was given a fresh beginning and its new name by its present owners, the Hernandez Arroyo and Reyes Ocasio Family. Mauricio and
Naniki began the work to restore the lands natural ecological balance and rekindle the production of organic agricultural products of quality and excellence. Their vision, energy, work, and love for the land bore fruit with
OGBA Organic Farm Certification in 1994.

Products Kaguanas is the trademark for the organic agricultural products grown by The Kaney Farm. Among them is
the first organic coffee produced in Puerto Rico, Cafe Oroco. Its name was selected to honor the Taino Cacique, (Chief) Orocovis, the ancestors of this land and their ancient tradition of honoring the Earth Mother through a
harmonic natural way of life. Coffee production has steadily increased from 200 pounds in 1995 to over 9000 pounds of select, organic, coffee. The Kaney Farm is pleased to announce that they will begin to reintroduce the excellent quality of the original coffee variety of "Puerto Rico Select", by planting five new acres in 2003 - 2004 as part of their continuing effort to restore the major losses sustained by Hurricane George in 1998. The elevation of 3,500 feet above sea level and organic cultivation assures the excellence of Cafe Oroco.

The beans are hand picked at the peak of ripeness, sundried in-house, spring water processed, then roasted to a rich Boricua roast. Following their Taino ancestral tradition of honoring the Earth Mother, and maintaining her natural
ecological balance for present and future generations, the new caretakers use only 30 acres of their 400-acre farm for farming. They are also proud to announce that since 1997, 318 acres have been certified as a Private Auxiliary Forest by the Dept. of Natural Resources. Serving suggestion: Cafe Oroco is a blend of Arabic coffee, including "Puerto Rico Select". The Boricua Roast lends itself to a fine grind; Drip or espresso makers are best for espresso or cafe con leche style. A cup of this suave, well-rounded coffee animates a conversation among friends as they sit back and savour its aroma and taste, or as an accompaniment to morning time reflection. Enjoy, Buen Provecho!
