Heyoka has become a generic term with the New Agers and their people. It's mostly used to explain away why they don't make sense, and why they reverse their claims. They say, "Don't worry if what I say makes no sense to you, I'm a Heyoka, and that is how we are! It's holy! It's good for you, keeps you flexible and on your toes and makes you re-examine your own expectations and illusions."

(Can you tell I've rubbed elbows with some of them?)

So, calling themself a Heyoka is just like getting a free pass to never need to remember what they have claimed.

Funyy story.... kind of.... I posted on indianz about the Mexican guy I did some work for who a couple years later informed me that he changed his last name to a Miwok (coastal california tribe) name.... what I didn't mention is that when I saw him those years later he also informed me, "I'm a Heyoka." I just started laughing and said, "Dude.... two years ago you had never heard of that and I had to explain to you what it meant. And now you ARE one?"

Some people's kids....
