Coda to "Dead Man's Hand"

Terry McGinnis leaned back against the Batcomputer, "So... Selina Kyle, who's she? An old girlfriend?"

Bruce Wayne folded his hands and stared off into space for a moment, "She was much like your own Ms. Walker."

"Oh, so she was your girlfriend half the time and one of the criminals you fought the rest of the time."

"Exactly."

"So what happened?"

"It's time for you to get back to work."

Terry pushed away and stood up, pulling his cowl on, "Fine, don't tell me."

After Batman had left, Bruce pulled out a small drawer with a picture and two gold rings in it, "What happened, Terry? She became my greatest strength and my greatest weakness..."

At the end of DMH, Bruce tells Terry he'll tell him about Selina Kyle. This is how I picture that conversation going. I'm sure you can guess what was in the drawer. To fill in a few facts on this, to bring it parellal to Batman Beyond, the reason Bruce took off the cowl was this, he had killed the Joker who in turn had killed a certain Selina Wayne...

(I might add that this was Frank Miller's excellent comic miniseries The Dark Knight Returns.)
