Subject: Oil pump and connecting rod bearings replaced

I traded in my 1997 M3 for a used 2002 M3 with SMG (1987 miles and 12/01 born date). Since I have owned several other BMW models, 2002, 328, and the 528, and had no problems with them, I feel very confident with the BMW brand.

Well, my used 2002 M3 runs strong and does not have a huge appetite for 10W60 oil, the SMG is fun but I had more control with the stick shift with my 1997 M3. Anyways, BMWNA recently sent a letter informing me that the oil pump and the connecting rod bearings should be replaced. I took it to my dealer (Beverly Hills - CA, BMW), and they performed the recall procedures promptly (even a free rental car). Well, my 2002 M3 after the fix runs very smooth, so I recommend that anyone with a 2002 M3 who are anxious about the engine failure problem should get the recall procedures performed ASAP and have fun with their car.
