Subject: Failures in 4/'01 M3's

Ira-From the failures chart on Jason's site, you will note that some 6% were from April '01 production. I would suggest that you have your dealer schedule a meeting with you, your M3 and the regional service rep at his next visit. Let him experience your rough engine. Then document your concerns to BMW NA in a letter sent certified mail, return receipt requested. I would also suggest that you have your oil tested to determine if the level of lead would indicate that bearing failure is imminent. You, like the rest of us, now have a 6 yr./100k mi. engine warranty. I, for one, as do others, want more: A reliable engine. Hopefully, we'll get it if the European auto magazine article is correct.
Best of Luck to us all!
Regards, Stan
