Dan-Welcome aboard! Sure hope yours (and everyone else's) holds up and doesn't break but the statistics and facts uncovered don't give us much relief. As for your impression that these cars had rev limiters,I was under the impression that BMW built reliable engines, so don't count on a BMW rev limiter to save your engine from an over-enthusiastic down-shift. Play it safe!
