I noticed the same problem today -- just after I did a little braking test, probably not related... but...). I then experienced a swoohing at low rpm -- both up and down the rpm scale.

When I ended my trip -- later on it seemed to go away.

What did you find out?

I've decide to take my 96' M3 to my mechanic.
