Subject: bmw engine failure

I have been reading about the rod bearing failures on these BMW engines. It is definatly a manufactures problem and not the end user. In my younger days my friends and I would rev 327 cubic inch factory stock parts Chevrolet V-8 engines up to 9000 rpms, and that was with and with out the car moving. The main cause of speed related rod bearing failures is lack of lubrication. And that can be caused by many different things. The rev limiter is not one of them.
That small bmw engine should not have a problem with revs past the 9000 mark.
