Thanks, Stan, for your advice. I found out that in August the car had about 2,500 miles when the first low oil light came on. My husband had not been checking the oil at each fill-up. Now there's about 4,500 miles on the odometer. So, the usage seems to be more than the 1 quart per 1,000 mile approximation. I told him about your suggestion to check the oil more frequently, and he said that he will. The car is supposed to visit the dealer on Wednesday, so we'll see what they say.
