You don't understand, Zeth. You never will. You won't ever know the feeling of carrying life and being responsible for that life's welfare. You won't know the feeling of the sudden emptiness its loss leaves you with. The what-if's and guilt won't keep you awake during the night and when you do finally sleep, that face haunts you there. I've travelled this road once, I won't do it again. I can't. *falling silent for a moment, she sat up and picked up tricket off the coffee table. Knowing what it was, but not what it did. The forgetting meaningless bits of information was another problem of being human.* I'm not forcing you to be the father, is that not enough for you, Zeth? This child's father is dead if you don't want a part in his life. *her words cut into herself, but she would do whatever it takes to protect this life she carried. It was never about her. Not in this case. However, she wouldn't correct Zeth. He had every right to verbally assault her. Tremble coursing through her frame as she heard the voice in the doorway, she slowly turned and faced the female.* Go away. I'm not taking any more visitors. *talisman clutched in one hand, her other hand clasped a crystal glass containing blessed sea salt, eyes narrowed she stuggled for the correct words. She had the energy at hand, but the words were a problem.* I may be human, Dar, but I'm not defensless and I still have some claws. Kill you, I can't do, but I can certainly make life very uncomfortable for you. *chin set once again in that familiar manner, her figure straightened. She had nothing to lose. If she was to lose the child, then she wanted to be dead. In and out. In and out. Her breath came in a steady rhythym, drawing out the fear that poisoned her. Stillness. It was what she felt. Blinded by dark power before, Briallan could see now how this was as much of an art as music, dance, or a painting. She didn't look to Zeth for help for she wouldn't think of hiding behind another; especially him. She'd rather die than to ask for his help and that feeling made itself present on her features. The deafening roar of energy filled her senses and her guests could more than likely feel that energy as well. They were, after all, sensitive to that sort of thing. She drew on the energy radiating from the ancient relics in the building. Clay pots. Religious icons. Rounded goddess shaped statuettes. Carved wooden animal figures. The energy was obviously there and tappable. However, she wouldn't tap into it. Not yet. Her stance would remain defensive in these matters, not offensive like she normally would be.* Still feel like playing, Dar?
