Subject: HP Laptop won't power up

My HP laptop started having problems with the time/date resetting every time it was powered down. Now when trying to power up the lights flash and nothing happens. Battery will charge when plugged into ac power, but system will still not startup. I think it may be the cmos battery, but I need to disassemble the laptop so I can get to it and I couldn't get the case completely open. After removing every screw I could see, the front still felt like there was a screw or two holding it together and I was afraid to pry the case any more for fear of breaking something. Any tips on disassembly or other way to correct the problem?
