Subject: Toshiba 4300 Hibernate problem

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro laptop and I recently upgraded by operating system from Windows 98 to XP and when I did I lost my ability to hibernate. While I was 98 I had switched off the hibernation and am not sure if this is why it did not copy over. I really want to be able to hibernate and I can't, can anyone help me with this?
