Subject: ibm t20 laptop not booting up via battery power

had all sorts of problems booting up my ibm t20, would only work if you didnt use it for about a week and then only do it once. someone suggested removing the battery if dead. after i did that it booted up fine every time. so naturally i went out and bought a new battery. damn the t20 will happily boot up under dc power with or without the battery installed but will not boot up via battery power alone .. hard disk light flashes when you press the on switch but thats it, and the battery is fully charged. kinda defeats the purpose of having a new battery. has anyone any ideas please/george
