Subject: fan starts then stops?

On starting my computer (Evesham Voyager Cinebook) I now get a beeping sound & a black screen for around 3 mins. After this windows will load!! Please help. I have bee told that the beeping sound is some type of alarm code, beeps are one after the other (aprox 2 per second). On further inspection i have noticed that the fan will start initially but the stops. Is this the cause of the alarm?, & can it be fixed in the bios??
