Subject: Solo 5300- no power up- dead

I have a Gateway Solo 5300 notebook that will not power up as of two days ago. Even plugged in to the AC adapter, there is still no response when I press the power button. I have opened the case and reconnected every connector, tried clearing the CMOS and still have no luck. I checked the power button , which sits on a small circuit board above the keyboard, and there seems to be no visable problems there. The only thing I have yet to try would be to "hotwire" the power button somehow to rule out the switch (button) itself. SO.... I'm just looking for any good ideas. Does a notebook have a power supply like a desktop PC does? I figure not since it's all straight DC, even from the AC adapter. I do get a green LED to light when I plug the adapter in to the back. Any help would be appriciated.
