I have the same problem just starting today on a Sony Vaio PCG-FX240. Entire screen flickering is the problem, rebooting sometimes finds it quenched, but sometimes not, as the flickering could still be there again on restart. It is likely hardware from adapter to converters/inverters to graphics card, to cable, etc., from reading another board. I note that the bottom of the screen is warm also, and that may not be normal. Has anyone a tip or two to diagnose with some reliability? I'm not interested in expending large quantities of time or cash on fixing (attempting to fix) it, as I have no time for such luxuries as playing EMT on my computer any more. Well there goes the flickering again, so I'm off...
