Subject: Toshiba Satellite 2500CDS won't charge

Hello,

I recently picked up an old Toshiba Satellite 2500CDS that didn’t have an AC adapter. Rather than go out looking for one I tried hooking up a 12V computer supply directly to the DC input on the laptop. Surprisingly it gave enough power to boot up windows (even though the bottom label of the laptop says it needs 15V).

The only problem I am having now is that the battery doesn’t charge. When the system is off only the green adapter LED light is on by itself, but when the computer is actually running the battery light flashes yellow. As soon as I shut off the 12V power supply the computer turns off instantly. It doesn’t seem to hold any charge at all!

Maybe the battery is toasted? Maybe the 12V isn’t enough to charge? Any suggestions?

Any help is appreciated!
