Subject: Gateway solo Needs a good boot!!

I bought a Gateway solo 2100 on e-bay.The guy said it worked great.After buying a power supply and aquiring a CD rom on e-bay ,I am now sitting here with my windows 98 cd and I can not get the prompt: to come up.I set the bios to boot the CDROM but it does not.Is there an F key I need to push to get the prompt?Or is there another way?
