Subject: vfd.vxd error

I have an old thinkpad 760C I cant start windows even in safe mode. I was having trouble so I sent the file to recycle bin hoping that after making changes in windows a new version will replace the old one...WRONG!!!!!!!
Now I can even go into safe mode and I dont know if I can fix this....help!!!! The laptop does not have a cd rom and since I bought used I dont have any software but I know windows is in cabs....
