Excellent!! It'll be interesting to see if it sells. Since probably most of the diehard fans already have the disc. Thank you Federico for the news.

Initially intended for the Japanese fans, As Time Goes By, was/ is the most contoversial CD of the Carpeneters to date. I first thought how lucky those Japanese fans.....so I ask my Filipino friend who is in Japan to buy me one. He did, 3 months later the CD was released here in Manila in its entirety including the hidden track, And When He Smiles. THANK GOD they are still popular here, that new releases are still being issued here. Never a day without a Carpenter songbeing played on the radio. The Carpenters, became so popular here, not because of their "goody too shoes" image, but because of their music. There more Carpenter hits here than anywhere else. Even "Dont Cry For Me Argentina" was released here as a single in 1980, 3 years after it was originally released as an album cut.

Hi Noel. Your stories about the Carpenters and Manila are very interesting. Does Manila have a music chart? I'd be interested in hearing what positions the Carpenters songs and albums have reached there.

Its too bad that Manila has no official mucic chart up to now! Its the local radio stations doing their own music charts based on requests. Interestingly, when lovelines was released here "You're The one" reached no.1 to most FM stations. In one station alone, it hit no. 1 for 5 weeks. (Its a beautiful song by the way, and I consider her vocal performance here as the best!). When Richard Carpenter released his first solo album "TIME". "Calling your name again" was voted as a soon to be future hit, by a local POP station, It did! Tha song was a smash here, so did "Something in Your Eyes" with the late Dusty Springfield, "In Love Alone" with Dionne and "I'm still not over you" by Rich. In fact the album generated 5 hit singles here. This was the 80's the time when Michael Jackson released his BAD album and when Pet Shop boys had an equally succesful hit with Dusty in "what Have I done To Deserve This?".....Too bad Richard never releases another POP album just like TIME

I love Dusty Springfield. Her voice is absolutely magnificent. Probably my favorite song by her is "The Look Of Love". I wish Karen would have recorded that song.

It amazes me at how popular the Carpenters are in Manila. I also hope Richard will release another pop album, I thought "Time" was an excellent release.
