I am among the most devoted of Carpenters fans, have been since I heard "Ticket To Ride", going home from work late one night.
Most precious memories are the nights I'd put a Carpenters record on the stereo, gather up my little kids and rock them to sleep as Karen sang the lullabyes.
Saw them in concert once, at the Univ. of Utah in 1973. A large arena was not my choice as a venue. Their music for me required an intimate setting, maybe a candle-lit piano bar, etc.
I continue to be amazed that for as long as I've listened to their recordings, I never tire of them.
My favorites include "You", "Now", "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town"(from the 2nd Christmas album), "Ticket to Ride" and "Sweet, Sweet Smile".
I am privileged to have visited with Roger Nichols, the writer of many of their hits. He has a ton of memories and is a very warm and pleasant person.
I miss Karen so much.

The Carpenters are very touching if you hear them at nights.

I was almost 12 years old when "the Singles 1969-1973" was released. At that point my neighborhood friends and I used to listen and sing along to Three Dog Night, The Osmonds, and the Jackson 5. But the Carpenters' Singles 69-73 was by far our ultimate favorite album.
We knew every song word for word by heart. One time we went camping and sang songs like Top Of The World, Sing and We've Only Just Begun around the campfire.
And still 30 years later I just can not tire of the Carpenters. Their music is truly timeless and Karen's voice is a real TREASURE.
