I generally hold my silence, but all these messages amuse me. Some of you defend, yet some of you attack these personalities without even an ounce of thought given to reason and logic. Miss Chinese International 2003, Rachel Tan, may be 'fake', a bitch and materialistic, yet that begs the question, who isn't? At some point in our lives, we exhibit one, if not all, of those qualities.
You people who are so adverse to the winner are so given to emotions and your ignorant prejudices that you forget (nor would I presume you have even the slightest idea of) what it takes to compete in an international pageant. I dare say those who are so vocal in their criticisms would run for cover, or crawl into their pathetic claustrophobic shells, when such an oppurtunity is offered to them. It is not easy to be speaking to a crowd, let alone an international audience. All that you people are courageous enough to do, is to speak behind the veil of anonymity of the internet.
The contestants have their inadequacies, but they have qualities which most of us lack. Courage and the determination to succeed. They have in them, the drive to make a difference, in their lives and that of others. How they choose to exhibit it thus, is none of my business, neither should it be any of your concern.
You prophesy (not spelt prophesize) who should be the winner. At this point I must say you must have not been very important, for I certainly do not see you included in the panel of judges. Bark all you want, for the results are final. I would not be too presumptious to believe, that the results of the pageant would not, in any way, ruin the goodwill shared between the contestants.
So what if Toronto won? Or if Hong Kong won? Or any of the other contestants won? The only polite thing to do, is to offer one word. Congratulations. And to add nothing more.
"Envy is never alone, spite always tag along."
Think about it.
