The Boston Globe ran a story on the giant lava lamp titled, "Busted city has groovy idea" Eli Sanders,Correspondent refered to Soap Lake as an economically depressed city on the arid plains of eastern Washington. Later adding that the 1970's lava lamp was an icon usually was associated with smoke filled dorms ad far-out fantasies.
