From CCCook:

Paul and Terry had decided to take the motor tour of "Scenic Studs". This was a ride through some of Studs' finest neighborhoods, devised by a few of the local real estate companies, with signs on the roads intended to show off some of the prettiest homes, ranging from Paul's own fairly middle class area to the more exclusive, affluent section where the Cravens lived.

"We'll have to check this out at Christmas time." Paul said, "I'll bet the lights will be incredible!"

Terry nodded. This was certainly better than listening to their mothers arguing, but now, Terry really needed a cigarette.

"So, where's your new place?" Paul asked.

"Just coming up, actually!" Terry replied. "And your parents are right next door! As our mums have made abundantly clear!"

They drove past the two houses with the matching SOLD signs.

"That's not far at all." Paul commented. "Nice places. Now we'll have someplace to go for Christmas instead of staying home or going out to dinner..."

Terry laughed. "Didn't we just have Easter, and you're already planning for Christmas?!"

"Well, you can never have too many holidays, can you?" Paul replied.

"I suppose not." Terry murmured, no longer really paying attention. He made sure his cigarettes were still in his pocket, and considered opening the window and lighting up, but figured he'd end up on the bus that way, and Studs buses were nowhere near as nice as London buses, some of which were crap, but still nicer than the American ones. Not that he'd ever ridden on one, but they were certainly ugly. He tried not to think about his next cigarette. After a bit longer, Terry spoke again, attempting nonchalance.

"So, where are we going?"

"I don't know." Paul answered. "Where do you want to go?"

"You're driving!" Terry said, a little exasperated.

Paul smiled evilly. He didn't always like to admit it, but he did enjoy annoying Terry.

"Ah yes...so I am!" Paul left it there. On purpose.

Terry folded his arms as if to say, "Fine. Be that way." Except that he didn't actually say anything, just pouted, really.

Paul laughed. "Well, since I know you don't have any money, I'll buy you lunch. How 'bout the Pear? It may not be the only restaurant in town, but it is just down the block."

Terry brightened. "Can we please sit in the smoking section?!"

Paul sighed. Sometimes hanging with Terry felt like babysitting. But as he was feeling particularly generous...Christmas spirit and all...he agreed.

"Fine. Just this once!"

"Thanks, mate!" Terry grinned as they pulled into the parking lot.
