"No�" Shane punctuated his edict by poking Rob's chest repeatedly with his index finger. "No� NO!"

"Maybe I should go stir the chili�" Quickly, Robert excused himself to the kitchen.

Incredulous, Nick reached out to touch Rob's newly shorn, jet-black strands. "What did you use on your hair?"

"Some old hair dye my mother had stashed under the bathroom sink," Rob replied proudly.

"Geez, Rob, you're not supposed to leave it on all day," Nick chided him mercilessly. "Did you even check the expiration date?"

Rob slapped Nick's hand away with a snarl. "Hey, it worked, didn't it? If you guys didn't know me, Frank Aurora won't have a clue."

"If you think you can infiltrate Frank Aurora's inner circle just by dressing like The Godfather, then that hair dye must've seeped into your brain!" Shane barked as he began to pace.

"You're the one who gave me the idea�" Rob accused Shane, to Shane's stunned disbelief.

"Me?" Shane shot back, his mouth agape. "I did not!"

"I can't believe you cut your hair�" Still dumbfounded by Rob's appearance, Nick muttered to himself. He hadn't seen Rob with short hair since they were young enough to wear the short pants to match!

"Did you or did you not tell me that one of your officers found the body of Frank's hitman in some ditch tonight?" Rob continued to corner Shane.

"Tony Drago�" Suddenly realizing Rob's plan, Shane regretted sharing that bit of information. "You can't just walk in and apply for the job, for crying out loud!"

Confidently, Rob agreed. "Right�that's why he's expecting me�"

"How the heck did you pull that?" Finally, Nick's attention was diverted from Rob's hair.

"Let's just say I've got some friends in Vegas�concert promoters�they know people�." Rob revealed under his breath.

"He knows people�" Nick reiterated to Shane, suitably impressed.

"He knows how to get himself killed!" Shane growled. "Frank will see through you in a minute!

"You two didn't�" Rob reminded them.

"We didn't," Nick had to agree.

"I can do this�" Rob insisted. "I'm your best chance and you know it!"

"You can't wear a wire, it'd be too dangerous�" Shane grumbled, starting to mull the idea. "You'd be on your own."

"I work better that way," Rob quipped, hiding his fear.

"We could teach him a few things�" Nick offered hopefully.

"When's Frank expecting you?" Shane asked, hesitantly.

"He's havin' one of his goons pick me up at the airport tomorrow morning," Rob replied.

"Tomorrow morning?" Shane could only sigh deeply at the monumental task ahead of them in less than 24 hours.

Instinctively, Nick knew where to start.

"Robert, we're gonna need that chili!"
