RE; A mobile phone user.
I have no intention of defending my position to you or anyone else.
If you want to discuss the issue of masts in detail please contact me at any time.
May I offer you some advice, spend less time sending anonymous e-mails and concentrate on your spelling.
Best regards Lis Davies.

If anyone has any evidence that these masts do any damage to public health then I would be pleased to read it. of course there are many things about modern life that harm the environment to some degree or other. The question is, do the benefits outway the damage?
There can be no going back to living in caves just because it is less damaging. We cannot get rid of modern transport and energy systems. Those who campain against development and "progress" would have more respect if they could demonstrate that they do not use any of these modern day monsters. That would show that they are, at least, not hypocrites.
Don

sew mi speling is bad, perhaps you would like to set up another petition and demonstrate, lets oust out poor spelling, it is time you got a life Liz, is there nothing you don't complain about. You appear to have an opinion on everything, but you are answerable to the public when you make outlandish statements regarding developments, what gives you the right to scaremonger without justified evidence of future damage and be one of the many that contributes to that so called damage.

The beauty of a site like this is that anyone can make their feeling known, they may add their name or not. I however choose not to, because not everyone is like yourself, we don't all crave for public attention, and if I did, I certainly would stand by my convictions. I, you see Liz, am not a hypocrite.

This planning application is now live.
The ref number is APPLICATION NO 2003 / 1813 .
Send your objections to Mr Bryan Graham, Head of Planning Services, The Guildhall, Swansea.
E-mail: planning@swansea.gov.uk
Include the unknown long term health concerns and the visual intrusion aspect.
If you would like to help in objecting to this application then please e mail me or contact Lis Davies.
This far too close to the school and people's houses - why can these companies not apply the precautionary principle?
Don, when you say do the benefits outweigh the damage do you mean the benefits of childish text messages and general chit chat outweighing the potential for damaging childrens and local residents health over long term exposure to the masts output.
I ask again to you mobile users would you be willing to have it sited outside your house?
If you would then please contact 02 and see if they will agree to move it.
And if you are a mobile user then are you willing to cut your usage or not buy/allow your kids to use mobiles? Because if you are not willing to do this then you will have to accept that more demand=more masts near to schools and houses.

[> [> [> [> [> Benifits out-waying Possible Dangers. -- Don Lilley, 08:46:37 09/17/03 Wed

Dear No 2, You ask what I mean by benifit verses possible dangers. I can best show this by an eg.
I am walking along the cliffs on a remote spot of Gower and come across a fellow lying at the bottom of a steep cliff.
"How did you get in that state?" I ask
"Just fell off the top of this cliff!"
"Looks like you have a couple of broken legs, and I don't like the look of all that blood comming out of your ears, I'm no doctor but I believe that means your scull is smashed in."
"Phone the ambulance!" he requests in earnest.
"Now now!" I say "If I do that It will set off a series of radio or microwaves all around the area. Causing possible danger to people living near the repeater masts. Besides, if I do, they may send out the air ambulance and that would never do, just think of all the noise and pollution that would be caused, and in an area of outstanding natural beauty."
Need I go on?
BTW I hate mobile phones with a vengance!
Don

Don, I cannot argue against your scenario as you present it.
But I would say that this mast is to be sited in a residential area where people have access to land lines in their houses.
The mobile phone companies are not providing an emergency phone service as such, they are also not providing coverage everywhere out of some kind of social responsibility.
If there was no money to be made from texts etc then they would not be doing it.
I assume that you are supportive of placing this mast near to the school.
What is Killay Community Council's view?
If they object could they please help with our campaign.
If they approve could they please inform all the concerned parents (myself included) why it is such a good idea.
If you think that it is such a good idea then would you be happy to have it placed outside your house?
And lastly, before you ask - no I don't have a mobile phone and no I would not buy one for my children, this is why I feel so strongly against this proposed mast.

No2mast, I have to say that if the mast were to be located next to my house I would have some concerns. ( I am not ashamed to be a nymby, if it comes to it). I think the visuall effect is more to to with it, unless it can be shown that there is a real health danger. If there be any doubt then I believe the powers that be, and the company concerned, should take such into consideration and for their own public relations place these things out of the way of built up areas. A mast has just been erected within 50mts of where I work, I have no objections as there is no visuall desecration. I believe there are far more things about modern life that pose much more danger. That does not alter the fact that I would rather be living in todays modern society than a few generations ago even if it be without all the dangers we now face through modern technology. On the whole I think we are far better off. What is the alternative? Go back to living in small communities with all that is 'green' and have a life expendancy of 35yrs? Or die of Cancer at the age of 80? I know I speak in hyperbolies but I find that is a good way to get things into perspective.
Yours, Don

I do not know what the Community Council View is on such matters, I have no part in it, and have no say in it. I suggest you speak to the local elected members. I just run the website and my views are purely my own.
Don
