Subject: Bow down

I'm presently looking to buy a Mariner 31, Hull # 124?? When it sits on the mooring it is bow down in the water. The water line is above the bow sprit support. Any suggestions ?? Bruce

If the one you are looking at is like mine, you may have the holding tank and a second 40 gallon water tank under the V-Berth. If these are both full, on my boat, the bow tends to low on its waterline.

I have decided I don't need the second water tank except when leaving for more than a few days and I leave it empty. Also redistributed some moveable items to the cockpit lockers, keep the 40 gallon diesel tank full and she lays nicely on her lines now.

If there is lots of chain rode in the locker, that would also weight the bow down. I had 300 ft. of chain rode, and had to put ballast into he keel to balance out.

Thanks. Both suggestions have a lot of merit.
