Subject: PHRF for Mariner 31
In reply to: Bill Kranidis 's message, "Well...we all knew that Mariners are speed demons" on - Friday - 06/15/12 - 8:48am

I,ve applied to SF Bay YRA for a PHRF certificate. I'll post it when it comes in. I think 210 plus would be more in the ball park. Yes the winds were steady 25+ with voilent gusts causing one snapped mast, other rig damage and some crew thrown in the water. We reefed the main from Pittsburg to False River. Old Natsukaze was flying with rail down and "a bone in her teeth" We rounded up a couple of times through Suisun but otherwise she tracked really well and came through with no damage. I' love to see more Mariners enter this awesome race next year. Glad to see you back Bill!

I don't see myself "racing" per se, but it would be nice to be able to pick up a long distance challenge, with an official PHRF rating.

Hi Bill,
Your account of the Ditch Run was a good read - thanks for that. And thanks for the invitation to race the next one. Remember when we met during last year's Delta Doo Dah cruise rally on the San Joaquin river near Stockton? Anyway, I will send you email with contact info. so that we can remain in touch. Best regards - and well see you in the ditches...
