Subject: Proud New Owner of Hull # 106

Hello there. I am the new owner of "Guillemot", hull number 106, built in 1971. I am having an (insurance) survey done but based on my personal inspection and discussions with the previous owner, I am confident that she is ship-shape and ready to join me on many adventures in the foreseeable future.

She will be sailing from her current home, Sorrento, ME, to her new home port - Raritan Bay/New York Harbor.

I have been checkin in here for the past few weeks - it seems this is not a veray active forum... perhaps with some smartly placed questions, trip reports supported by pictures and some reports on improvements made, I can contribute here and learn from you all.

I am very pleased to begin my relationship with my Mariner 31.

Paul,
Congrats and welcome to the group. It seems rare to hear of a boat that is in good shape and not in need of a lot of work. I guess that so many are willing to under take the process (myself included) is a testament to the quality of the design. Please do keep us informed of your adventures with Guillemot.
Dan

Hey, Craig, I see you lurk here too... Good to "see" you.

Yes, there will be stories, adventures and if I can figure out how, I will post some pictures here as well.

I must say, I still have several shots of Hibou mingled in with my pics of Guillemot. After all - it was Hibou that got me on this crazy hunt for a Mariner 31. If Hibou was not on the Left Coast, I would have been in hot pursuit of her. She's beautiful!

I hope you will find a good home for her.

Thanks, Paul.
I'm sure someone will come along and take care of Hibou.
Two, it only takes 2 boats to make a rendesvous, as long as one person can spell the word. ;-)

I will be passing through NE - and indeed will be stopping over at either New London or Mistic on my way down from Maine, some time around May 10.

If there are plans for a rendezvous, I would certainly attempt to join on in.

Errr.... how many boats does it take to qualify for a rendezvous???

Two or more Mariners make a Rondevous. Sort of like car pooling. The more the marrier!

Why do I think you meant:
"The more the Mariner"

When and where would this rendezvous take place? How many Mariners are in New England waters? This could be a great week end! Jake.

[> [> New England Rende... rande...render... get toghether... -- Paul - 1971 M31 - #106, - Tuesday - 11/24/09 - 4:59pm

I will be passing Block Island - New London some time mid-May, on my way to NY Harbor.

I would leave suggestions as to what is a good place to meet up, tie up, or raft up, to the ones with local knowledge.

I have been to Mystic Seaport a few times and believe it would suit well and offer dinner/refreshment amenities... but perhaps there are other places similar but easier to reach...

Any New Englanders out there?

[> [> [> [> May ? -- Jake, - Tuesday - 01/26/10 - 3:08pm

I'm not going to be launched until mid may, but would like to get together with other mariners. If Paul is serious about meeting at the Mystic sea port I could drive down and reserve dock space for us all. But, I would be ready at the other end of May! Dan,are you still moored in Noank? I'm moored near mouse island in Noank, near spicer's marina. Jake.

There are other raft-ups being organized that I intend to participate in... Latts&Atts being one... see http://www.seafaring.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=16966

But I am set to traverse the Sound on my way from Maine to NY probably during the week of May 17 (weather depending)and would be glad to make an excursion into Mystic or any other convenient place for a boat beauty contest... heh, heh....

[> New crew for M32-Hull #41 -- Craig, Mariner for Life, - Wednesday - 06/ 9/10 - 1:28pm

We are the proud family of the M32- Hull #41. I'm trying to clarify a manufacture date. The paperwork says 74 but that seems way too late for one built in Japan. Any info is appreciated and thanks for all the wealth of detail and help here.
