Subject: priming fuel in perkins 4107

Hello: Can anyone tell me the baisics of priming the fuel in the 4107? I changed the fuel filter for the first time and would like to know the comonsense description of what I need to do to get fuel system back on track. It's a bit of a mess as the glass bowl of the Raycor filter was leaking due to a crack and have needed to remove the filter , get a new bowl and then prime her before restarting. Help ..

[> Refill first, then prime -- Paul M31 #106, - Thursday - 06/17/10 - 8:58am

You should refill all containers with fresh diesel first - then loosen up the bleed points on the secondary filter (1)the hp pump (2) and each injector (4) while manually pushing the fuel through with the lift pump. Keep bleeding the air off until there are no more bubbles.

This schematic does not reference the bleed point on top of the filter but it too should be bled free of air.

Hope this helps a bit...

I have a 12 volt pump in line, from the tank to the Racor, sure makes it a lot easier.Pushes fuel all the way to the injectors. About eighty bucks.
