Keoni....Looks like no one awake, or interested in what may be the most important phase of acqusition of a (older) boat...if that's what you're doing...we did a M40 sometime ago...survey, and all that stuff...watch out for surveyor(s) who seem to know only matters pertaining the hull...you might have to really do some research finding a person who can do the whole shebang....rigging, keel, and keelbolts, how about the motor (Perkins)...look at the (past) paperwork...has the boat been involved in a mishap...how about"worms"..if it's been in warm water...where is it now...the soundness of the masts (see previous posts pertaining to this subject here on MOA?...well, you get the "drift"....

Don't forget the electrical system...been known to be a general problem on Mariner boats if not maintained or updated....don't have to remind you of electronics...the rest of that stuff.Cabin, deck rot is a "general" problem....

Surprised to see how such an important subject did not gather any comment(s)

Keoni.....relative to your "new boat" purchase, we were just advised that in order to have a "older" wooden boat insured, if necessary, insurers will require that the craft hull be checked/documented for secure hull fasteners....we've heard of one Mariner where several fasteners were removed by a shipwright and found to be without threads! Now that could become a little problem halfway across the Pacific!
Have your surveyor check em' out.

I've been watching your original request for comment and and am VERY surprised that it has not gathered more comment. Does anyone look at this website...or is it just everyone is "tied up for the winter...if you're in the northern hemisphere
