Subject: dodger

I am planning on going off shore with my M40 and i want good cockpit shelter.
The mizzen makes building a dodger a challenge.
Anyone have any ideas.

I am not sure what you mean by the mizzen presenting a challenge... did you mean to say you were thinking of building a bimini?

The dodger would sit ahead of the mizzen, under the main. The mizzen does present a challenge for a bimini in that it restricts (the mizzen boom) it's hight.

When you mention shelter - do you mean from spray, wind and/or sun?

You can build a dodger that basically reaches as far back as the mizzen mast - with some enginuity perhaps even slightly wrapping it - giving quite a bit of shelter from wind and spray.

Check out the "projects" section. Bill added a nice one to Karpe Diem.
