Very useful website. Glad to know other Mariners visit. I finally, last year, printed out all Mr. McPhail’s articles and keep them by the bed. Besides being practically minded, he’s got a wicked sense of humor. And though his focus is on gaffers, I find lots there that applies—and that what doesn’t makes me laugh.

Along the same line, you might consider subscribing to his periodic (but free) electronic newsletter called BOWLOCKS. The name is curious, and I noodled over it for some time before my English girlfriend explained that where she comes from there's no such thing as OAR LOCKS. ...wink...
