Subject: Self steering or auto pilot?

What are you folks using? I know John Bye had a wheel pilot on "Promise", he said he didn't use it often.
I contacted Norvane, he was reluctant to sell me a unit, because of the worm gear steering.
I'm getting close to departure, and this is the last big ticket item.
Any help?
Thanks,
Doug.

I have a Raymarine autohelm. It works, but not great. I would suggest, if you go with a Raymarine autohelm to spend the bucks for the models with a gyro; it should help the unit work better.
