Dave, are you on the prod?! The guy had just shot dead a handsome young cowboy, probably from West Texas, Amarillo even, over the love of a girl working in an El Paso cantina, who possibly could be called a soiled dove. A foul evil deed if ever there was one, I'd say! As regards a good song needing to rhyme, have a word with Sonny Curtis about that!
Aaron, sorry to upset your sensibilities, but this is just a light-hearted discussion over a well known and well liked song, and there is no question about that.
