Hi Graham.

I don not recall this story.

The real question is....why? Sure, I realize everyone has a quirk or 2, and perhaps this individual simply wanted to be able to say they owned the most Holly cds, but again...

The level of repetition in both content and graphics would be
overwhelming. Also, a vast number of the discs would be of cheap unauthorized quality. I can not imagine how little at least 3/4 of that number would actually contribute anything creative or worthwhile at all, other than adding to the total number.

In my estimation, no serious fan would require more than
100 individual cds to have everything of interest in both
audio content and desirable packaging. That figure would
include boxed sets, imports from around the world, and the best of the bootleg packages that pre dated the official boxed set.

It seems to me that the individual you are describing had a grade "A" obsession.

Now that some truly awful AI creations are being circulated
on line, would that person also want to collect discs of that (almost entirely)morbid material?

I guess I already know that answer.
