What can we hope for going forward?
I have a few thoughts, but before sharing them I have to admit that I was personally disappointed that the opening of the remarkable "Buddy Holly hall" in Lubbock was not seen as
a much bigger deal, worldwide, let alone North America.I had real hope that it would usher in a new era of interest, yet it's very existence has gone largely unreported, even on well made news magazine shows such as "CBS Sunday morning" .

Regarding what is left...

Many years have passed, but I still wonder about the second, or "lost tape" made by Bobby Peoples in 1956.

I have been keeping myself amused by scouring youtube for the latest efforts to create stereo versions of Holly/Crickets classics, while I continue to be disgusted by those who add their own extra instruments to "enhance" the original classic performance.

While we may never know the full truth about what master tapes may have been destroyed in the mega MCA/UNiversal fire some 17 years ago, the possibility that they may be in "private" hands still exists. If an amnesty were to be offered by whatever entity now owns the rights to all Holly tapes, to the person that may well have the true originals, we may get yet be surprised with pristine audio versions of many more Buddy masterpieces that just those 20 issued in 1986.

Naturally, It would be an honour to see the Holley family home movies from Dec. 1958. The family certainly has every right to keep them private.

It would be wonderful if a serious movie or mini series
could be produced, offering a new generation a chance to learn of Holly and what he achieved in such a minimal time frame. Could this be made somewhat more plausible since M.H.
no longer owns the rights to Buddy's image and life story?
