 Teetsie Richardson never gave Dion anything. I don't believe Dion and Teetsie ever met one another. Jay Richardson (Big Bopper Jr.) said that after the 1959 Winter Dance Party, his father's guitar sat for yeats (without the strap) in the attic of Bill Hall, the manager of the Big Bopper.

There is a post on Dion's Facebook page from January 24, 2014 where it states "The Big Bopper's Gift"---and a photo of Dion sitting on his bed with a guitar, the Big Bopper's strap, and a WDP poster. It may be from LIFE Magazine.

Jay Richardson staunchly believed that Dion took the strap from the guitar after the crash and the guitar was still on the bus. He said to me many times, "What artist would give away their guitar strap WHILE STILL ON TOUR?"

I believe Jay's version of what happened to the strap.
