Good day,
Over the last few years, I have been quietly been updating Buddy Holly Day By Day. I was inspired to revisit the project from a phone conversation I had with Tom Kirby of New Mexico.
Right now, I am in the compiling stage of the project. I am posting here to see if anyone has anything they wish to contribute.
I am just looking for original items, scans / photos of any dated material pertaining to Buddy Holly.
If you have anything, please email me.
The revised project will be in text format only. No photos or illustrations.
And I plan of releasing it publicly in the upcoming year. Hopefully, it put smiles on everyone’s faces.
And I want to make it available for FREE.
Here is some of the “new” information already added.
I have added many song copyright entries.
I have added all entries from the addendum at the end of book 5 to the main body of the work.
I have added all entries of the deposits to the Buddy Holly and The Crickets account held in Clovis, New Mexico.
I added quite a few new entry dates with some performances, especially from the 1953 – 1955 era.
I added many release dates of records that are related to Buddy Holly and the Crickets.
I added quite a few weddings that took place in Buddy’s life of people what were connected to him.
Bill had a habit of only publishing excerpts from letters. I have included entire transcripts of most of those letters as well as any names that were deleted (where I could fill them in)
I added in a television appearance from Florida February 1958
I added the details on the English Bright Lights interview with transcript.
Thanks to Rod Jordan, all of the Australian information has been revised and corrected.
Thanks to Graham Pugh, the Oklahoma City saga from late September 1957 is now all correct.
I have also gone through Peggy Sue’s book, which she quotes from a journal she kept back in the day.
Bill documented ONE flying lesson Buddy took, I have documented THREE!
Plus many other entries that will be new to the project.
When the booklets originally came out, Bill stated they were “the ultimate reference work on Buddy Holly”
That was true then, but I want to take this to the next level and really make it the “ultimate”!
Many thanks,
Tom Reed
