Subject: Just another soapbox show.

I really enjoyed BP the first couple of seasons.

But now it's just become another Social Concern of the Week show.

That's where it's going wrong. That's why it's going down hill.

I can live with show adressing social issues. But when the show becomes a lecture it is no longer entertaining. It goes down the tubes. I'm particularly talking about the eating disorders episode.

Now tonight it's a poorly veiled anti-drunk driving lecture.

If they choose to "adress social issues" the issue should be woven into the story. Show some-one doing what they shouldn't, show the horrible consequenses, then shut up. The watchers emotional attachement to the character should do the rest. Lecturing just turns the listeners ears off.

Besides, there are only so many social issues, if you use that crutch you eventually run out of stories.

Smell this ear! That's the smell of a turned off ear. :)
(sorry, couldn't resist)
