I think I've gradually become more and more of a hard*$$ over the years, because I think Marla gave those girls EXACTLY what they deserved. I think some of our high schools would really benefit from having at least one Marla and at least one Scott stalking the halls to keep people in line. :)

It's interesting really, to consider the similarities between Marla and Scott. Both tend to "go overboard"- both are combustible. Both have demanding behavioral standards. Both, as you put it in my Marla thread, can stick to their morals in a hurricane. Where Scott differs I suppose is in the premium he places on emotional reticence (though his own nature often frustrates his goal of total composure :)) and in his masculine (for lack of a better descriptor) competetive streak. It's a pity they don't have these two characters working together more often.
