Elise,

I am glad you found this site and I hope that more people are willing to share their stories with you!! I know how hearing from others in like situations can bring comfort and strength...especially when you feel good can come from the joining of minds!!

I was lucky in that when my doctors suspected osteonecrosis with me, they did run MRI's FIRST...and did not wait around to see what would happen...my rheumatologist is very good about that! So far I have been lucky, but with the dosage of prednisone that I live on, we know that my luck may run out sooner then later...especially considering the fact that I already have osteoparosis (I am only 28).

I do agree that doctors need to explain risks better to patients...it's sad though, that we still have drugs out there that the risks are just as bad as the diseases sometimes, like prednisone and the chemotherapy med I am on to counter-act the prednisone. Couldn't live without the meds (no breathing or eating...lots of fainting and other weird autonomic symptoms), but it sure is hard to live ON the meds (puffed up with Cushing's, higher sugar levels, thinning bones, thinning hair, fatigue...). Sorry to go on and on like this...I just think that docs need to take a good long look at the drugs and come up with something NEW and BETTER...without all these side effects!!!

Ivy
